Caerlaverock Castle
This moated castle has been witness to two famous sieges and although ruined, it is still spectacular...
Although ruine, the castle is still a fobidding structure and well worth a visit. During its history it withstood two seiges. Its triangular plan is most unusual.
Caerlaverock Castle has a children's adventure park, two model siege engines, and nature trail in its grounds, Siege Exhibition and cafe.
Visitors with a physical disability can see most of the ground floor and courtyard of the castle and a substantial part of the grounds. The visitor centre, shop and display area are wheelchair accessible. Stone carvings in the museum area and in the castle are hands-on exhibits.
A nature trail in the nearby woodlands is not suitable for those using wheelchairs or visitors with limited mobility.
