Coach Tours to Scottish Islands
Take a coach or bus tour to the magical Scottish Islands of Skye, Mull, Iona, the stunning Outer Hebrides or the beautiful Orkney islands. We offer coach and self-drive tours throughout the year.
The Islands of Scotland are mainly on the west coast apart from the Orkneys which lie to the North of the mainland. The islands are some of the most historic parts of the country where ancient settlers (and raiders) landed from Northern Europe and Ireland.
The standing stones of Orkney dating back to 2500BC are of such importance that they were declared a UNESCO world heritage Site in 1999.
The western Isles of Mull, Skye, Iona and the outer Hebrides depict a more "Highland" aspect in terms of landscape and character. Look out for the "Black Houses" with the thatched roofs tied down with ropes and a double row of hanging stones because of the fierce winter gales. Peat, from the numerous bogs, is still used as a fuel today and the stacks of drying peat are a common site on some of the islands even today. It is a back breaking job cutting peat with a specially designed spade known as a "tusker"- but in the best of Scottish pricing traditions- the peat is free!
Views of Scotland's finest castles, lochs, mountains and wildlife all come free ( Scottish Pricing Policy) as part of these Coach Tours to the Islands! Call Laraine now on 0131 603 4880 for advice, suggestions or to book a tour before they are sold out!
