Attached to the owner’s home, this semi-detached holiday cottage is situated on a working farm with stunning views over open countryside. It is located close to Dumfries, which dates back 800 years and has connections with the poet Robert Burns. Popular with cyclists and walkers, the cottage is within easy reach of several of the 7 Stanes mountain bike centres. The area has many interesting villages and sandy and rocky beaches to explore. Attractions include Drumlanrig Castle, the home of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. Nearby is Thornhill with an 18-hole golf course. Also Mabie Farm Park with quad bikes, trampolines and astro turf slides. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

2nd comment: Lovely property, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, so peaceful and we loved watching the calves and lambs playing from the sofa. Mabie forest is perfect for walking and bike rides whether you want a gentle stroll or a more challenging trek and mabie farm is a must fir those with younger children. Would definitely recommend this cottage. Aug 2011.
3rd comment: Very well equipped and spotless accommodation. Very comfortable beds. Thoughtful welcome pack included farm fresh eggs and tasty shortbread. Owners very helpful with information on local area and we saw newly born animals - the children were fascinated. March 2011.
