Amongst the protected salt marsh and mud flats there are many well-situated birdwatchers’ hides, which offer the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the rare natterjack toad or one of the thousands of barnacle geese which return in the winter.
The nearby Galloway Forest Park is famed for off-road cycling and walking with the Seven Stanes and National Cycle Network also passing nearby. Watersports available at Loch Ken.

10th comment: Secluded and stunning - this is the perfect country getaway for those travelers seeking higher than normal standards in accommodation. We hope to return!. This property is prepared and equipped to an amazing standard. The kitchen, in particular, is very well stocked with crockery and cutlery. There is *nothing* about the property that can be improved in my opinion. This is a superb house (it’s far too large to be described as a cottage) and you will not be disappointed! July 2009.
