These two comfortable holiday cottages on the Scottish Arbigland Estate are all within a few minutes walk of the beach. Powillimount Cottage (ref 25419) is 300 yards from the beach, and West Lodge, (ref 25420) is 700 yards. They are situated on the 2000 acre estate with its outstanding natural beauty and wildlife. The estate forms part of the Nith Estuary Special Area of Conservation and Upper Solway SSSI. Powillimount beach is popular with families and renowned for the limestone arch Thirlstane. Wildlife is abundant including red squirrels, roe deer, brown hares, the natterjack toad and, more rarely, otters, with seals and dolphins spotted out to sea. Many walks available with a network of footpaths around the estate including a farm trail. Dumfries and Galloway is ideal for cycling and mountain biking with Dalbeattie and Mabie 7 Stanes only 8 miles away. Shop 6 miles.

1st comment: If you’re looking for a peaceful bolt hole, this is it. Right next to the sea, with fabulous bird life and beautiful views. Recommend visiting Castle Douglas for produce and cafes, (especially Designs Gallery and Cafe). Lovely walks and a roaring wood burning stove to come home to, what could be better? Cottage owner very helpful and friendly. We’re looking forward to a return visit! Oct 2011.
2nd comment: The property is well situated for a quiet rural holiday with woods and beaches in easy reach. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped, when a problem did arise the owner fixed it promptly. Sept 2011.
