Portknockie
Small seaside village on North East coast a few miles east of Cullen.
Once a fishing village like so many on this coast. Today Portknockie is a quiet anc very charming village with small harbour protected by a stone breakwater. The local website records how in the 1920s the village had 48 shops and local businesses but laments that today the village is largely residential and dormitory. Where once in the 1920s the harbour was home to a resident population of 60 steam drifters, today there are just 5 boats who land catches at other harbours along the coast. The summer and dolphins bring a summer influx of visitors to the many self catering properties available nearby. see below
Eating Out
The Victoria Hotel has a nice restaurant and there is a public bar as well. Neither are particularly special, but friendly - website
The Seafield Inn on Unio Street is also friendly and good for a drink.
There is a fish and chip shop on Bridge Street serving take out with local caught fish.
