A few miles northeast of Forres is Kinloss, site of a major RAF base. The B9011 heads north from Kinloss and past the RAF base; on the right is a sign to the 'Findhorn Bay Caravan Park'. In the shadow of the RAF base in a landscape of gorse and pine-clad dunes, the caravan park is the original site and nucleus of the Findhorn Foundation, a world-renowned spiritual community.
A mile north of the Caravan Park is the traditional fishing village of Findhorn, sparkling white under a huge sky, on the eastern shore of Findhorn Bay. The bay provides sheltered waters for boating and watersports, which can all be arranged from the village. On the other side of the bay you can walk on the dunes of Culbin Sands, explore the forest and look for dolphins in the Moray Firth. You may even see osprey fishing for trout or salmon. In the village itself is the Findhorn Heritage Centre. Easter, Jun, Jul-Aug daily (except Tue) 1400-1700; May and Sept also weekends 1400-1700.
