Auchinleck is a town located north of the Lugar Water, five miles south-east of Mauchline and close to Cumnock in East Ayrshire in Scotland. The village has been linked with the Boswell family from the early 16th century. James Boswell is well known as an author, biographer, lawyer, and diarist. The Auchinleck House was commissioned here during 1760. The parish church situated here boasts the portrait of James Boswell and William Murdoch.
