Clava Cairns

Bronze age circular cemetary beside the battlefield at Culloden and now famous from Outlander series. Probably 4000 years old

UNfortunately, crude archeology in the twentieth century destroyed much of the evidence of who was buried in the cairns and why, but we know that they are 4000 years old and date from the Bronze age. The alignment of the entrances suggest some astreological input like Maes Howe in the Orkneys, but the Clava Cairns are unique in their layout. However, the overall layout implies an important connection to the winter solstice
