Carnasserie Castle
Tower house near Kilmartin in Argyll. Now ruined but with interesting renaissance details remaining and excellent position. Open in summer. Unmanned.
A handsome combined tower house and hall, home of John Carswell, first protestant bishop of the Isles, and translator of the first book printed in Gaelic.
The castle flaunts very elaborate architectural details of the late sixteenth century.
