Customer Reviews of West Lodge Cally Estate,Gatehouse of Fleet, sleeps 4
st comment: Walking from the house was fantastic. Scenery beautiful and on the door step amenities (10 mins walk through the wood!). Very tranquil and relaxing. Oct 2011.
rd comment: Wow! This property suited use down to the ground, so cosy, great area and scenery on the door step. Would certainly return. July 2011.
th comment: The Lodge is in an excellant location. It is in a very tranquil setting yet only a 5 minute walk to the village. We mainly ate out (Locally I would recommend the Ship Inn and The Bank of Fleet) but the Lodge has everything you would need to cook your own meals. Although the weather was mainly heavy rain and sometimes extraordinarily windy the Lodge was always warm and homely. We saw the deer everyday in the field overlooked by the kitchen window and once on the green outside the living room window. I picked a book up in Maxine’s library "Gatehouse Of Fleet In The Past" and lo and behold there was a photograph of one of my Uncles on the last page. Heb White the gamekeeper to the Cally Estate. I used to spend holidays at the Lodge in the 60’s and 70’s (they were known as the Double Lodges" then) when another of my Uncles lived there. It was interesting to see the alterations made to the Lodge and to walk around the village and describe to my husband what it had been like through the eyes of a kid from Liverpool. I took the book down to the Mill on the Fleet bookstore and by an amazing stroke of luck they had a secondhand copy. We went on many walks (including a 4hour hike to Sandgreen beach and we were the only folks on it!) and we also went further afield to Rockcliffe and Castle Douglas. Both to be recommended. All in all we had a wonderful holiday despite the weather. May 2011.

th Comment We initially booked West Lodge on appearance and the fact we could take our dog. When we got there is surpassed our expectations. It was ideally situated for all the historic places of interest. The woodland walks were on the doorstep. We were so pleased with the lodge that we have recommend it to family and will definitely book it again, even as early as next year. Sept 2009.
th Comment So nice to have a comfortable bed. Some owners seem to go for the board-with-a-sheet-on-it approach. It also had an electric blanket! Feb 2009.
