Customer Reviews of The Old Gun House, nr Muir of Ord, Sleeps 4
st comment: An absolutely wonderful holiday location, greeted with basket of fruit and two bottles of wine. A long journey off the main road but well worth it, ventured past the cottage to the end of the road scenery and wildlife amazing. If you enjoy wild life and bird watching you will have plenty to see deer, golden eagle, buzzard, red kite and seal in the cromarty firth. For a good day out the kyle of lochalsh and skye along the A832, A890 sights and scenes incredible. This cottage was a gold award welll worth the journey and the money. UNSPOILT SCOTLAND. April 2012.
nd comment: A very relaxing week. Wildlife pentiful - saw a young Golden Eagle, a Red Kite and a large herd of Red Deer near the cottage. March 2012.
rd comment: 12 serene miles (30 minute drive) down a single track road, within a quiet working complex of 3 houses and the old estate stables, overlooking hills and glens, if you are looking for a quiet get-away-from-it-all holiday, this is the ideal place. The house is small, even for 4 people (there are 3 seats in the living room) but extremely comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen has pleanty of utensils, a comfortable dining area and there is a large stock of wood for the fire PLUS central heating. The bathroom is on the ground floor and the staircase somewhat narrow and winding so for Seniors and children the location is not ideal and care is required. But for us - 2 people and a dog - it was an ideal holiday spot. On the subject of dogs, all of the estate dogs are very well trained and there are deer and sheep in abundance, so this is not a place for a runaround Town Hound unless you are prepared to keep it tethered. Sept 2011.
th comment: Very peaceful & quiet location excellent escape from modern life. Fantastic views. Aug 2011.
th comment: Good location with wide open spaces and great views. Herds of red deer roaming freely as we arrived back in the evening! Comfortable house with all that is required for a good holiday. May be worth noting it is 12 miles down a single track no through road though! July 2011.
th comment: Peaceful and tranquil landscape, nice open fire and a welcome fruit basket with all the facilities in the kitchen that you could think of. Would definitely return. Didn’t want to come home. Possibly the best holiday yet. Beautiful cottage. Sept 2010.
th comment: Beautiful location and the property contained all that was needed for a 2 week family holiday. You advised taking towels but following a telephone call from the estate office clarified thath this was not the case. Fresh linen/towels were also provided at the end of the 1st week. July 2010.
th comment: It was a very clean and comfortable cottage and they provide you with a bowl of fruit on your arrival. It is a lovely area with lots of red deer around the estate, also saw fox and red kites...perfect ’get away from it all’ holiday. Nov 2009.
th comment: The property was well designed and modern interior. It was very clean and felt home from the moment you walked in. Very pleasant that enough wood was provided for the open fire and all electricity included because sometimes that can be rather an unpleasant surprise at the end of a holiday. Nov 2009
th comment: The Gunhouse is clean and comfortable the location is just amazing the pictures on line do not do it justice! The wild life is really good, we saw deer every day in the meadow and rabbits in the garden every morning and evening! The views from the top of the mountain just outside are out of this world. The road that leads to the house is very scenic we named it little Canada if you go there you will know what i mean, this place is truly beautiful. June 2009.
th Comment We had a great time. The area is very private, the wildlife fantastic. I hope the new tenants remember to feed the birds. May 2009.
th Comment Fantasic place, highly recommended. April 2009.
th Comment This property had everything we could ever need, the lay out was excellent, fruit on arrival, as much fire wood as we wanted, heating included, all linen and towels included! This is a magnificent holiday cottage. We will certainly be returning! March 2009.
