In a quiet location on the edge of the popular seaside village of Rockcliffe and with views to the Solway Firth, this detached holiday cottage provides a peaceful retreat. This is an area popular with walkers (from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails) and cyclists, with the Dalbeattie ‘7 Stanes’ close by. Activities include sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports. The Solway Coast has sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore, and historical sites and castles to visit. Kirkcudbright, the artists’ town, has art galleries, antique shops, museums and shops while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s ‘Food Town’, is a traditional market town with many local foods available. Shops, pubs and restaurant ½ mile.

2nd comment: Lovely comfortable dog friendly cottage. The garden is superb, we had all the spring flowers out, bluebells etc. Good views out towards the Solway Firth. Well stocked bird feeders in the garden we had woodpeckers and a red squirrel visit! The welcome pack was much appreciated. All in all a very enjoyable stay. May 2011.
3rd comment: Owner left so many complimentary items I couldn’t list them all. Cleaning stuff, tea, coffee etc, soap, t--rolls. Best cottage I’ve been in and we have been to a lot. Great location for walkers, visits etc. Great garden for dogs. Will definitely go back. March 2011.
