Monument that commemorates national hero William Wallace overlooking Stirling. Excellent views and lots of events that explain his significance.


The Wallace Monument is a Victorian edifice that is part of the highland and Scottish renaissance inspired by Victoria and also Sir Walter Scott that rediscovered Scottish history and recast it as a romantic adventure. The monument enjoys a striking position overlooking the Ochils and Stirling and the central belt and is visible from quite a distance. You can climb to the top to enjoy the view.

There are also lots of events that explain and animate different elements of Scottish history and make this an an interesting place for children and families as well. Their website lists all the events and also provides details of visiting of when.
