Dunimarle Castle
Remains of 16th century house or castle on the traditional site of the murder of Lady Macduff as related by Shakespeare. Has been fully renovated as a private residence in 2013 and is not open for view.
There are two Dunimarle Castles, the ancient one and the new 1840s castle which has been recently rebuilt. The ancient castle is sited on the location of Lady Macduff and children's murder. It was traditionally a Blair castle. The old was replaced by the new house sometime in the C18 century and after passing to Erskines was largely empty until being sold in 2009 and has now been fully restored.
