This very quaint and picturesque end-terraced cottage is nicely situated in an unusual small hamlet on the shoreline of the Firth of Forth. The interior has been sympathetically modernised to retain its wonderful traditional features and there are many charming finishing touches to ensure each guest's stay is memorable. The secluded terraced rear garden has outdoor seating and runs up to a wooded hillside. At the top of the garden is a substantial log cabin with a balcony and picnic area - ideal for use as a studio, games room or for alfresco dining.

Low Valleyfield is adjacent to the beautiful conservation village of Culross which is in complete contrast to the modern industrial landscape across the Forth. The village is a step back in time with fascinating restored 17th and 18th century buildings including the National Trust Culross Palace dating from 1597. For walkers or cyclists, the Fife coastal path passes the cottage and there is a host of bird and wildlife locally. Local shop and excellent inns.

Ground Floor : Living room with open fire, dining room, galley kitchen, bathroom with shower over bath. First Floor : 1 double and 1 twin bedroom with coombed ceilings. Garden studio log cabin.

Cooking by gas hob/electric oven, gas central heating plus open fire. Fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, LCD television, DVD, CD player. Bed linen and towels provided. Cot, high chair and stair gate available.

Customer Reviews of Culross Cottage, Fife - sleeps 4

"Home away from Home"

5 of 5 stars

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Ness View Cottage and were welcomed by Mrs Lind upon our arrival, I must mention that she had stocked the kitchen with necessities like bread, milk, tea etc. which we found extremely kind. Coming from Canada it was much smaller than we were used to, however it was definitely not a problem. We found the cottage very cosy and comfortable and lacking nothing - every room was well equipped. The garden and the "studio" were also very nice and secluded although with the bad weather and all the travelling around we did there wasn't much time spent in either. We would definitely recommend this cottage to future holiday-makers and if we ever decide on another holiday in Scotland we will not hesitate to stay there again.

"Well appointed and conveniently positioned comfortable holiday h"

5 of 5 stars

We had booked the house specifically because it was "dog friendly" and for its location. House is well appointed and very comfortable. There was nothing we could fault. Warm welcome from the owners and good explanation of heating etc. The location is good for accessing Fife Coastal Paths and city of Edinburgh (by train). Off street parking. There is a well kept large garden to the rear of the property which is a bit undersold. Only criticism is that the directions we received to find the house were not clear - house was described by a name when it would have been easier to find by its number as no name could be seen!

"New Year 2011"

5 of 5 stars

The owners were there on arrival, gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful. The house itself was lovely, well equipped, cosy and within easy walking distance of the Red Lion pub which had a great atmosphere and excellent food.

"The Tardis!"

5 of 5 stars

I was uncertain about booking this cottage because it looked so tiny from the outside but I was delighted on entering to find that it was much larger than I had imagined. The owners were very helpful in their communication and had been extremely thoughtful in the equipment they had provided - good quality kitchen utensils, comfortably furniture and even new games and Dvds. The garden was fantastic - we would have used it a great deal more if the weather had been better. The property suited our family (two children 11 and 7) perfectly and the location was excellent. Only two (small) gripes. The bathroom needs refurbishing as the sink is too small to brush your teeth in and the bath is difficult to get out of. Also the open stairs mean the TV can be heard too much upstairs. However these are small points and did not spoil our holiday. I would definitely recommend it to others and would commend the owners on the care they have taken over the property.

"Well equipped, well located, amazing garden"

4 of 5 stars

The owner met us at the cottage and was very friendly, leaving us fresh milk and biscuits for a long awaited cup of coffee. The house was small but perfectly finished with everything we needed, including children's toys hidden away in fitted cupboards. The garden was extensive with a lovely summer house at the top and very friendly neighbours - our children played with next door's children whenever they were out together. The cottage was next to a beautiful village called Culross and a short drive from sandy beaches and other major cities such as Edinburgh. Overall, a lovely, relaxing stay and we would definitely use it again if we were to return to Scotland.

"Great place to stay & "get away from it all""

5 of 5 stars

My husband & I had a short break here with our dog. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped with a beautiful garden complete with log cabin. It is ideal for walking & cycling with footpaths to historic Culross and Preston Island which we used daily. Gifford & Anne are great hosts who gave us lots of local information. We will be back!
