Monkstadt became the seat of the Clan Macdonald in 1730 when they abandoned Duntulm Castle.
Nearby are servants’ houses and a steading which includes a granary stable, cartshed and a mill with horse walk. Monkstadt has played a romantic role in highland history. The mainhouse of Monkstadt is now a ruin however the steading has been renovated and the stables and Granary have been sympathetically converted into first class holiday accommodation.

11th Comment The property was good value. The only thing which we could possibily critise is the fact that our dog had to be kept on a lead within the grounds of the property. We come from the country and unfortunately he’s not used to being tied up. Apart from this small point we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The property was very private - not overlooked by any other property. The views from the property were magnificent. July 2009.
12th Comment If you wish peace & quiet outdoor life, scenery, hillwalking, climbing, fishing, cosy nights in or a pint or two in a local pub and don’t mind using your own transport Skye is the place to go. We throughly enjoyed ourselves. March 2009.
