"A true jewel in the crown..stretching north from the shores of the Cromarty Firth"

Set in the northern Highlands where the lochs are deep, the air clear and the long beaches perfect for meandering along, there is space and time to refresh the mind, indulge in passions and revive the spirits at Balnagown.
Set amidst the natural splendour of Easter Ross, Balnagown Estate - historic seat of the Clan Ross - is a rich blend of farmland, woodland and heather-clad hills and is just a mere 30 minutes’ drive from Inverness, the Highland Capital and just north of the Cromarty and Moray Firths. Steeped in a history that spans generations, the Estate has been transformed into a breathtaking holiday retreat and offers a bespoke and professional service in the STB ‘5 Star’ properties: each property being exclusively furnished and equipped with every need. A superb base for touring this beautiful and unspoilt part of Scotland with easy access to many areas and attractions – so much to see and do for all ages. On the way to visit the nearby town of Dornoch, guests can stop at the Glenmorangie Distillery Visitor Centre to discover the delights of their whisky. In Dornoch a visit to the History Links Museum is recommended or a game of golf can be enjoyed on the famous links world championship course or a stroll along the award-winning sandy beach. Shin Falls Visitor Centre, Dunrobin Castle (hunting seat of the Countess of Sutherland), the Timespan Heritage Centre, Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve and John O’Groats are all within easy reach. From the north coast a ferry can be taken over to the Orkney Islands which offer beautiful, rugged scenery with an abundance of wildlife and many archaeological sites. A trip to the stunning and dramatic west coast is recommended – Eilean Donan Castle, the lovely villages of Plockton, Glenelg, Gairloch and Ullapool or travel over the bridge to the enigmatic Isle of Skye with the Cuillin mountain range, the popular town of Portree with its colourful cottages which line the harbour, or sample the produce at the Talisker Distillery. To the north west and north of Ullapool, a trip up the coastline with the many rocky inlets and deserted beaches leads to Cape Wrath, the most northwesterly point of Great Britain. In addition to the many activities which are available on the estate, there are many more in the area – golf, mountain biking on the many forest trails, sea and loch fishing, kayaking, bird-watching and horse riding to name but a few. Shop 6 miles, pubs 1 mile.
