Customer Reviews of Old Mill, Portsoy - Sleeps 6
1st comment: Well thought out design. Clean and very homley. Great for a break away from the day to day routine. March 2012.
2nd comment: Exceptional property in beautiful part of Scotland. Will definitely be coming back! Feb 2012.
3rd comment: We had a fantastic holiday at the Mill, we went for a week over the New Year period with a group of four friends. The property was very cosy and welcoming. There was a wood burner and central heating, all fuel was included in the cost. The caretaker ensured that there was plenty of logs, coal and kindling for us, she also made the cottage festive with lights and decorations. The Mill had a very well equipped kitchen, plenty of cutlery, dishes and pots and pans. The living area has plenty of seating and had a dining table too, very cosy - extra blankets in the wardrobes too. The bedrooms are downstairs and are kitted out with beds, wardrobe, bedside tables and dressing tables. There is one double bedroom and two twin rooms. One bathroom with bath /shower. There is a washing machine but no tumble dryer, so drying clothes after a days skiing or hiking is difficult for 6 people, however we managed with the radiators. The views from the property are fantastic and you can look out across the fields and hills. Portsoy about 2.5 miles away and is very friendly. The Shore Inn, next to the harbour, is very friendly and welcoming and does good pub food. There is a Co-op on the main highstreet along with a fish and chip shop, bakery, pub/restaurant and other local shops. Be aware that over this festive period many of the smaller shops were closed until 4th/5th of January. Portsoy has a pebble beach and this is where the community had their New Years Firework display - this was excellent. Cullen is about a 10 minute drive away, has a sandy beach and shops. There is a great pub called the Three Kings Inn, very welcoming and does good pub food. There are plenty of walks to do all across this area too. The Bin of Cullen is a good one. Aviemore is about 1 and half hours away for walking / skiing. We would highly recommend this property if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday, it’s a good base for walking / skiing and excellent value for money. We shall definitely be returning this winter.
