Milton Cottage, by Lairg - Sleeps 5
"Bordered by the River Oykel...renowned for its salmon fishing"
Whether it be a family activity holiday or a relaxing break, a warm Highland welcome awaits at Balnagown’s Duchally and Inveroykel Estates which are set amidst the natural splendour of what is often called one of Europe’s last great wildernesses - a rich and varied blend of woodland, glens and rivers all set against magnificent mountain backdrops.
Situated near the pretty village of Rosehall, Inveroykel Lodge, Milton Cottage, Tigh A Rhos and Duchally Lodge offer the perfect retreat for those seeking escape from the pressures of life yet within easy reach of many attractions and activities. Only approximately one hour’s drive north of Inverness (the Highland capital), the lodges and cottages have been lovingly restored to the very highest standards to ensure a perfect holiday with every need catered for.
They are perfectly placed for exploring the many delights this unspoilt area has to offer – mountain biking on one of the many forest trails, fishing on the nearby River Oykel, hill walking on one of the many munros including Ben More Assynt, Fionavon and Arkle or guests can take advantage of the estate’s sporting activities which include stalking and shooting in season. The team of experienced stalkers, ghillies and gamekeepers are always on hand to pass on their vast knowledge or to give tuition to those wishing to learn or improve their skills.
Take a trip to the Shin Falls Visitor Centre, Dunrobin Castle and Dornoch or further afield to Wick, Thurso and John O’Groats. From the north coast a ferry can be taken to the lovely Orkney Islands with their abundance of wildlife, archaeological sites and deserted beaches. A day trip to the beautiful west coast is highly recommended where visits can be made to Eilean Donan Castle, Glenelg or Plockton followed by a trip to the Isle of Skye. To the south, a boat trip can be taken on Loch Ness, where the ruins of Urquhart Castle can be found on the shores of the loch.
To the north west are Gairloch, Ullapool and on up the rugged coastline Cape Wrath, the most northwesterly point of Great Britain. Or guests can simply relax and watch the ever-changing scenery of this stunning part of the Highlands. Shops under 1 mile (except Duchally Lodge SMMO is 12 miles), pubs 2 miles.

Customer Reviews of Milton Cottage, by Lairg - Sleeps 5
1st comment: Comfortable property in lovely, but not isolated, location. Great bar/hotel for food within walking distance.. Lovely location and nicely furnished, very comfortable. July 2009.
2nd comment: The cottage is in an area of outstanding beauty and the local walks are essential to do in order to get the most from your stay. It was very easy to relax quickly. An ideal place to stay if you want to step out of the hurly burly of modern life for a while.. The property had a quality feel about it. It was clean and well equipped and also homely. Aug 2009.
