Customer Reviews of The Old Smiddy, Castle Douglas, sleeps 2
st comment: Owners just over the way should you require them. Nice early walk up the drive with my dog and the farm dog will not be far away, nice to see them play. May be an idea to take a cool bag to keep your takeaways warm for when you get in. April 2012.
nd comment: Lovely views, comfortable cottage. The owner very helpful and considerate. Oct 2011.
rd comment: Excellent property not quite in the middle of nowhere but near enough just perfect. July 2011.
th comment: We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Old Smiddy. The road A712 is a fairly winding road and as it was a torrential downpour when travelling it we missed the turning, probably easier if directions had indicated the opening was directly opposite white cottage called ’Bread and Beer’. Friendly couple and although weather wasn’t great we liked our 1st visit to this part of the country. July 2011.
th comment: Very friendly, excellent location, peaceful and beautiful views. A little off the main road but this only adds to the peace and quiet. Very much enjoyed the stay .Second time we have stopped in this property. June 2011.
th comment: Excellent cottage in an amazing bit of the countryside. Landlords very nice and accommodating only complaint was the holiday was not long enough. June 2011.
th comment: This property is located on a farm in a very scenic location, it appears remote but the nearest town for shopping is only 13 miles away and the nearest pub is 4 miles away, so not that remote but a car is required. The cottage itself is well appointed and lacking for nothing, everything is provided for you including a nice welcome pack of bread, milk, tea, coffee and tablet cake. This property is surrounded by farmland and hills on which the owners allow you to walk freely along with your dog. As a place to stay and get away from everything this cottage is ideal, the owners cannot do enough for you. To sum up we would not hesitate to book again and recommend this property as a fantastic place to stay. A five star property. May 2011.
