Situated in a peaceful location, this farmhouse and former smiddy and byre holiday bungalows boast stunning views over open countryside. A hugely popular area with walkers and cyclists of all abilities with the Dalbeattie 7 Stanes Cycling Trail close by. There are many quaint villages to explore including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William, known as the ‘Machars of Galloway’ and presented with the ‘Pride of Galloway’ award and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish Coast. Take a day trip to Ireland from Stranraer. There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore throughout the area and also many lovely gardens nearby for those seeking a slower pace of recreation. The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities for the visitor with many beautiful sandy beaches and rocky coves to explore along the Solway Coast. Golf, sailing, horse riding, cycling, walking and fishing are all available, and there are tennis courts and swimming pools in nearby Kirkcudbright. Dumfries with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre lies 10 miles away, while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town, is 8 miles. Shops, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

2nd comment: A lovely, quiet cottage - very well equipped, & with everything you’d need for a self-catering home. Friendly, welcoming hosts & a great base for touring the area. Lots of lovely walks & drives both countryside & coast. Majority of roads quiet with minimal traffic away form main A roads, and would definitely recommend the area & the cottage willingly. Oct 2011.
