Cumbernauld
Cumbernauld, north east of Glasgow, was designated a new town in 1955, the third to be designated in Scotland, and was developed as a population overspill for Glasgow.
Having been a two-time winner of the 'Carbuncle Award', the town has since received the award of 'Best Town' at the Scottish Design Awards 2012.
