Kinross And Loch Leven
Kinross lies ten miles to the east of Dollar. A lot of charm is added to the town by the beautiful views of Loch Leven which the place gifts visitors.
The shores of trout-filled Loch Leven also happens to be most attractive part of Kinross. Nearby is the Balado Farm, the site of the annual T in the Park (www.tinthepark.com), a very large outdoor weekend music event in Britain. Phone code: +44 (0)1577

Local Sights & Activities for Kinross And Loch Leven
Loch Leven Castle
On an island in the middle of Loch Leven, and visible from the M90, is the lonely tower of Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned for almost a year at the behest of Queen Elizabeth. She made a dramatic escape in May, 1568, with the help of her young, impressionable jailer. There's not much left of the 14th-century ruin, but it's an evocative place full of romance and history. During the summer a ferry leaves from Kinross to the island. (HS) Apr-Oct Mon-Sat 0930-1730 (ends 1630 Oct).
RSPB Reserve
Not far from Loch Leven – Junction 5 off the M90 – is the RSPB reserve at Vane Farm, Tel. 862355.
