This charming open plan, detached B-listed gate lodge, designed by the architect David Bryce, has been restored to a very good standard. It benefits from an beautiful separate bathroom with freestanding double ended bath and fireplace, and offers an ideal holiday retreat for couples. Lying in the grounds of the baronial Ballikinrain Castle where woodland and river walks lead directly onto the Campsie Fells. Situated on the edge of Scotland’s first National Park, and with Loch Lomond, and the majesty of Ben Lomond close by, the area is staggeringly beautiful. A huge variety of outdoor activities are on offer; walking for all abilities, golf, with the choice of many top class courses all within easy reach. The waters of this area are the home of many different types of fish whilst Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater loch in Scotland, offers a wide range of watersports to suit all ages and abilities, including sailing, canoeing and waterskiing. With the historic town of Stirling and its castle, battlefields and monuments, and Glasgow, the city of culture and entertainment, both less than half an hour’s drive away. Edinburgh can be reached within the hour. Beach 15 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
