In a remote and beautiful setting, with superb views over the River Carron near its mouth on the Dornoch Firth, this converted corn mill retains its original millworkings and offers spacious and very comfortable accommodation on split levels, with an external entrance to both floors. Standing in its own large and secure south-facing garden overlooking the River Carron, it has been equipped and furnished to a high standard, and is well placed for exploring Caithness and Sutherland.
Within easy driving distance, the scenery varies from wild cliffs and hills to lonely moorland and remote beaches. Here you will find dozens of ruined castles and ancient monuments. Seat of the Earls and Dukes of Sutherland, Dunrobin Castle (24 miles) has a distinct French influence, and enjoys views out across the North Sea with seal colonies nearby. There are numerous golf courses, and lochs and lochans within easy reach, where you can fish for salmon and trout. The town of Dornoch (15 miles) is home to the seaside links course at Royal Dornoch Golf Club, the most northerly first-class course in the world. Dornochs amenities include shops, tennis, bowling, sandy beaches and a craft centre located in the town jail! The area contains some of the most spectacular scenery and physically challenging areas for hillwalkers in the whole of the British Isles. Shooting available locally by arrangement. Skiing within 1 hours drive. Inverness 40 miles. John OGroats 112 miles. Shops and pub serving food 1 mile.

1st comment: As you will see from your records we have had many holidays in Glenfield Mill and have always been totally satisfied. This year we went for a meal at the Cranog Bistro in Bonar Bridge, which we can highly recommend. The church at Croick is well worth a visit and of course the countryside around the mill is breathtaking for walks and peaceful time out. Oct 2011.
