Duilisg, Plockton, - Sleeps 8
This beautifully renovated, stone holiday cottage is perfect for a quiet relaxing break or as a base to enjoy wonderful scenery and exhilarating outdoor pursuits. Regarded by many as the most attractive village in the West Highlands, Plockton is quiet through most of the year but is a popular destination for visitors in the summer months, particularly during its long established, small boat sailing regatta fortnight in August.
The property is situated in a charming row of 150-year-old fisherman’s cottages in a quiet end of the village and enjoys a lovely enclosed front garden right on the water’s edge with stunning views over Loch Carron to the mountains beyond. Locally landed seafood and Plockton brewed ale can be enjoyed all year round in several nearby inns and restaurants.
There are many fine low level and coastal walks in and around the village where otters and birdlife can be spotted. For the more active, sailing, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and hill walking are particularly popular with Torridon and Kintail only a short journey away.
Plockton is an area with interests for everyone. Visitors can enjoy the romantic Eilean Donan Castle, the Lochalsh Woodland Garden at Balmacara maintained by the National Trust, or the remote coastal settlement of Applecross reached by a memorable journey over the highest road in Scotland. At nearby Kyle of Lochalsh is the bridge over to the beautiful Isle of Skye which boasts spectacular mountain, cliff and seascapes and some unique geological formations. From there, take a boat trip to spot seals, dolphins or whales or to visit the elusive and magical Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin mountains. Visit the Talisker Distillery or one of the many artist studios or enjoy a meal at the world famous Three Chimneys restaurant. Swim and picnic at the enchanting Fairy Pools. This is just a few of the many things to see and do while based in Plockton. Shop 300 yards.

1st comment: A delightful cottage in a beautiful location. Furnishings are of a very high standard and the kitchen contains everything you could possibly need. Feb 2012.
2nd comment: An exceptionally comfortable and well-equipped house. Oct 2011.
3rd comment: We were recommended this property by my sister who had stayed here with her family. We were not disappointed. The cottage was brilliant with everything you could possibly need and more. Fantastic location on the shore of the loch and a short walk to great seafood restaurants and the village shop. We had a great week launching our little sailing boat from the shore and the children enjoyed kayaking. Spectacular scenery all around. We needed longer than a week to fit in everything we wanted to do. Aug 2011.
4th comment: Duilisg is a fantastic cottage with everything you need for a really comfortable stay. The cottage is located in a beautiful spot, right on the loch with superb views. Duilisg is in a quiet location on the edge of Plockton, yet within a two minute walk of a great pub, some shops and various restaurants. The cottage is refurbished to a very high standard, with a really well equipped kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable (although if you’re tall be prepared to duck as it has the traditional Scottish build sloping ceilings - in no way a problem though!) There was a huge stock of board games and books in the cottage (needed for the Scottish weather at times) which included information about local attractions and walks. Plockton itself is also beautiful and a great base to explore Skye and the West Highlands. June 2011.
5th comment: For Plockton, the location can’t be beaten! Lovely lochside view away from the hustle and bustle of the Harbour Street area. The new owners have gone to much trouble to update the cottage and their care shows. June 2010.

12th Comment Very well decorated and furnished and with good quality fixtures and fittings. Sept 2009.
13th Comment The setting of this cottage is lovely - at a quiet end of the village of Plockton with un-surpassable views from the front garden. The cottage is one of the best we’ve stayed in with a high standard of furnishings and fittings - there is no feeling of ’just making do because you’re on holiday!’ Finished to a high standard - clean, very well equipped, comfortable beds and seating, set in beautiful surroundings. Aug 2009.
