On the sheltered south-east coast of Mull, between Craignure and Iona and overlooking the River Lussa and Loch Spelve, these three wonderful properties enjoy a glorious secluded position within the 4,000-acre Ardura Estate. Bordered by the River Lussa to the north and east, and protected to the west by the masses of Ben Fhada and Glas Ben, the estate is home to highland cattle and sheep, as well as an abundance of other wildlife, including red deer, eagles, buzzards, seals and otters. The estate has been recognised as a European Heritage Site for its otter population and ancient Caledonian oak forest.
An ideal gathering place for all the family, the impressive and spacious Ardura Lodge has a very large living room with fireplaces at each end, a piano, lots of family games and plenty of space to dance a reel during the festive season. The refurbished Ardura Cottage provides single-storey holiday accommodation for couples and families. The renovated But ’n Ben - the old fashioned name for a Scottish rural cottage of two rooms - is cosy and comfortable, originally the shepherd lived here. All are perfect for lazy days indoors, or as comfortable retreats after energetic outdoor pursuits.
Excellent hill walking can be enjoyed in the area – the view from the top of Cruach Ardura is well worth the 45-minute climb. Craignure (6 miles) provides a food shop, garage, post office, tourist information centre, pub and restaurant, and is the car ferry port to Oban. Ardura is a great base for visiting Iona, Tobermory and the local castles of Duart and Torosay, with its beautiful garden. Also nearby you will find a swimming pool, gym, health spa, miniature railway, golf courses and sandy beaches. Shops 6 miles.

Customer Reviews of Ardura Cottage, Mull, Sleeps 4

1st comment: Fantastic cottage ideally placed to explore the whole island. Lorraine & Neal were very welcoming! Booking again next year overall an excellent break away from it all. June 2012.

2nd comment: The fact we were delighted to return to the cottage for a second visit speaks for itself! The setting is lovely and the welcome from the owners’ agents very friendly. Part of the pleasure is seeing the farming activity going on nearby and learning from them about sheep and cattle farming in Scotland. The views from the cottage windows are wonderful and we kept our binoculars on the window ledge so we didn’t miss any of the abundant wild life around. May 2012.

3rd comment: What a warm welcome we had when we arrived. The cottage was so cosy and in a beautiful peaceful setting. Spotlessly clean, everything provided for a comfortable stay. We could not have asked for more. Great little enclosed garden safe for your dog and wonderful walks from the door. We found it difficult to leave and as soon as we returned home booked the cottage again for next year. Oct 2011.

4th comment: Fantastic cottage, caretaker could not have been more helpful. The wildlife from the cottage was breathtaking stags grazing in the field opposite and eagles spotted. We can’t enthuse enough about this cottage one of our best holidays ever. Aug 2011.

5th comment: A lovely cottage surrounded by farmland, water and wildlife. Very well kept. June 2011.

6th comment: A very friendly welcome from Lorraine who looks after the property, got our visit off to a very good start. The situation is splendid and we could even watch wildlife from inside the property and always had the binoculars handy! How often can you watch a white tailed sea eagle from your bathroom?! The position of the property made it convenient for visiting all parts of the lovely island of Mull, and there were also lovely walks from the door. We hope to return. May 2011.

7th comment: We have been here before, quite a few times, and only have to add that a a bigger and better television would help. Also more comfy settees would help. Apart from these two things everything was fine. A special thanks to Lorrainne and Neil (the couple who look after the place), who put us up overnight when violent storms on one day threatened to blow a tree on the cottage. Neil made the cottage safe the next morning. May 2011.

8th comment: Excellent cottage, very clean, home from home feel. May 2011.

9th comment: Very well equipped and in a stunning location. The caretaker couple could not have been nicer. Oct 2010.
