North West Scotland is two landscapes both sharing the same characteristic of being quiet and solitary. It is a wonderful region for exploring without meeting many other people: beach combing on beautiful empty beaches or walking across empty heather moorland.
For most people, this region is a trek too far. That makes it very special for those who do make it and discover a wonderful landscape of small villages quiet roads and desolate landscapes. The region is very different to the main highlands - much less mountainous except for the isolate hills like Suilven. Many more small lakes dotting the landscapes.
