There are two sango beaches near Durness; our favourite is Sangobeg to the East. Quiet and small sandy bay.
Another beautiful white sanded beach to the east of Durness on the north facing coast. Easily accessible from the road and often lit by the most perfect Scottish light.
When visiting the beaches, if you step into the headlands you see constant reminders of the agricultural past and specially the impact of the Clearances and how these once populated lands were stripped of their inhabitants to make way for sheep.
