Leaving Inverness, we head towards Eilean Donan Castle which is one of Scotland’s most beautiful and also most photographed castles (Highlander Movie) On the way we will pass along Loch Ness and then turn North along Glen Shiel and past the ridge of moutains called the "5 Sisters of Kintail". You’ll have ample time here to explore and take in the scenes that surround it. Over to the scenic Isle of Skye... Next we’ll head onto the misty isle, and towards the colourful town of Portree, a great place to explore and have lunch.
We’ll then drive around the Trotternish peninsula, giving you the opportunity to take in some of Skye’s most incredible scenery, such as the Old Man of Storr. We’ll spend our night in the beautiful and undisturbed Uig, which lies at the head of a sheltered inlet.
Overnight: Uig
Day 2 Dunvegan Castle and Gardens and more of Skye...
Our second day takes us further west towards the traditional seat of the MacDonald clan at Dunvegan Castle (entrance extra) and its spectacular gardens, with its waterfalls and exotic plants. We’ll pass by some incredible sights such as Sligachan bridge on our way to Achnasheen, a tiny settlement in the centre of the northern Highlands.
Next we’ll visit one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, Glen Ord which was established in 1838. Located on the Black Isle, you’ll have the chance to take a tour and watch the distillers at work before enjoying a taste of a dram of their malt whisky, We might finish with an optional Loch Ness Cruise* which is the perfect way to end our tour before we return to Inverness.
