Only 20 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh, this charming and well-equipped holiday cottage looks out over the owner’s plantsman’s garden, featured in Rosemary Verey’s Secret Gardens and numerous magazines. Very privately set with its own entrance and small garden, and adjoining the owner’s home, the cottage is in the heart of Inveresk, an 18th-century village with many fine period houses and the NT garden at 17th-century Inveresk Lodge. The delights of the city or the coast are in easy reach with good local shopping and the racecourse in Musselburgh, 1 mile. A vast diversity of entertainment and eating places in Edinburgh, which is equally accessible by train from Musselburgh. Six superb golf courses, including the Open Championship course at Muirfield, within a ½-hour drive. Shops 1 mile.

1st comment: Good location for Edinburgh (excellent Park and Ride scheme close by) and the Lothian coast. Comfortable cottage with a truly wonderful garden. We found the owners, Sir Charles and Lady Fraser friendly, affable people so it was surprising, tp say the least, to find the cottage being painted while we were in residence! Sitting down to breakfast in our pyjamas with the painter at the window! Arriving back in mid-afternoon and coming face to face with the painter at the bedroom window! Having to keep the door open to let the paint dry! (The painter was friendly and helpful and, no doubt as honest as the day is long. but not what we expected on our holiday!). April 2012.

Property itself furnished to a very high standard and very comfortable but it is the access to the wonderful garden that really sets this property apart. April 2011.
