Mill Shore Cottage, North East Coast - Sleeps 4
Area of outstanding natural beauty
These two very comfortable semi-detached holiday cottages (26817 and 26818) occupy a stunning elevated position on the headland just outside the beautiful village of Pennan. Both properties boast fantastic sea views; Mill Shore Cottage has a cosy living room which features windows on two sides allowing uninterrupted viewing of Mill Shore below – a secluded shingly beach with sandy shallows beyond, offering a unique perspective on the abundant marine life – seals can be spotted easily in the bay, whilst further out whales and dolphins are often sighted. Pennan Lodge again has marvelous views of Pennan itself and the bay beyond from its contemporary living room. In addition to the amazing marine life, just round the corner and visible from the cottages is Troup Head, a renowned nature reserve featuring the only UK mainland colony of gannets. Boat trips from Macduff can take you right past this unforgettable sight. Next door is Cullykhan Beach, another secluded cove reached by a steep walk down to the shore. Pennan is renowned for its famous phone box as featured in the film ’Local Hero’ but it is a lovely village in its own right, typical of those strung out along this rugged coastline, all waiting to be explored, including Crovie and Gardenstown, reached by steep winding roads to the bottom of the cliffs from which they cling. This is an AONB providing wonderfully scenic areas for walking. Shop and restaurant 4 miles, pub ¼ mile.
