Décor and furnishings are to a very high standard and include the owner’s distinguished collection of Scottish paintings; the kitchen has local stoneware, cast-iron casseroles and an induction hob. Out & About
The nearby Trotternish peninsula offers some unusual rock formations, where a combination of volcanic basalt and softer sandstone and limestone has caused spectacular landslips and sheer cliffs. The island, renowned for its excellent seafood and wonderful restaurants, has something to suit everyone. Visit Dunvegan Castle, Neist Point Lighthouse and the old fishing village at Stein. The ‘Blackhouse’ Museum at Duntulm shows how islanders lived in thatched stone houses; the Aros Centre in Portree shows how the sea eagle has been reintroduced on Skye. Tour the island by car or take an easy walk around the 4-acre garden and to the secret shores of Loch Diabaig or just walk out of the back door for 10 minutes for a glorious view of the Ascrib Islands. 4th comment: The property is in a brilliant location, it is well equipped, spacious, lovely and warm, and has a nice ambiance. Oct 2009.
th comment: We had been recommended Diubaig House and were not at all disappointed. It was a proper home as opposed to being simply rented and was very comfortable. Also Greshornish is a wonderful place to be based, secluded but only 3 miles from the main road to Dunvegan/Portree. We would love to return. That says it all, I think! Sept 2009.
th comment: The property was of the highest possible quality. Aug 2009.
th comment: The overall quality of the accommodation, furnishing and fittings was excellent, beyond our best expectations. Aug 2009.
th comment: Apart from the sheer pleasure of living in such a beautiful house in such a spectacular setting we were also very impressed with the personal attention given by the owner. Prior to our visit she sent a pack of information relevant to the house which included amongst other things, detailed directions, photos of places to visit, where we could shop, including opening hours and where to eat out. She also provided three emergency phone numbers of friends who live nearby. In the house there was also a wealth of information to help us make the most of our holiday, some of it written by her. The day before we left she again called, (from Italy!) to check that everything had gone well. We had a wonderful holiday, and even on wet days it was a pleasure to stay in Dubaig House and fully appreciate what a unique home it is. Aug 2008.
th comment: Both the quality of the accommodation and the location make this property a Skye paradise. March 2008.
th comment: Excellent property in an ideal location. A walking wonderland just outside. Oct 2007.
th Comment Despite being on a remote peninsula once inside it was home from home. Extremely tastefully decorated and the owners love of the area is clear to see. It was like a comfy tardis inside. Aug 2007.
th Comment The standard of the property - Duibaig House, Skye was excellent. The owner sent lots of very useful info after we had booked and the decor and homeliness of the property was very pleasing. It was a home rather than a holiday let. April 2007.
th Comment The location is always conducive to a restful holiday. The local environment and wildlife constantly surprise us with new things to see and do. Aug 2006.
